More About Us

Our museum grew out of conversations around kitchen tables, classroom desks, and choir lofts across Coahoma County. Our founders, with more than a century of shared work in classrooms, studios, and archives, saw how many local stories remained unspoken. We opened our doors in May 2025 so that Native American histories, enslaved and free Black families, European settlers, women organizers, youth, and everyday workers all stand side by side. We believe truth-telling can guide healing and opportunity. Learn how our community-rooted team shapes exhibits, programs, and youth jobs that keep Clarksdale's story alive.
